Buying a matching toilet seat
Here are four of the most important questions to ask yourself when it comes to a new toilet seat.
Which shape do you need?
Toilet seats are actually not only available in different sizes, but also in different shapes. An oval seat is still the most common variant, especially for very common or somewhat older toilets. Also popular are the so-called D-shape (D-shape or also called U-shape) toilet seats - which are characterized by longer, straight lines (to be compared with a lying D) - and are becoming increasingly popular. Square or even completely round toilet seats are a little rarer, especially in Scandinavian countries there are even tapered toilet seats and ceramics. When purchasing a new ceramic, check which type you want or which initial shape your existing toilet requires.
Which material do you want?
Toilet seats are usually made of plastic, less often wood - and each material has its own advantages and disadvantages. The typical high-quality plastic toilet seats are made of the material duroplast - also called urea. These plastic seats are available in numerous colors and designs and are relatively insensitive to cleaning agents. However, some find them cooler than, for example, seats made of thermoplastic - a softer, cast plastic that is very resistant to cleaning agents and breakage. However, the haptic and visual quality of these seats is not as given as with the Duroplast (urea) toilet seats. Another alternative are toilet seats made of wood. Wooden seats are warmer, have a stable feel and are durable, but they often cost more and can be attacked by toilet cleaners. In addition, there are toilet seats made of wood (wood core) or MDF seats (fiber composite wood) mostly only in the standard oval shape.

Which style are you looking for?
In general, the style of your toilet seat should match the general style of the room. Now take your room the way it is and use it as a starting design so that you do not choose anything that seems inappropriate to you or others in the overall style. You will be amazed at the multitude of options and different sizes, colors and shapes that the market offers. There are now even heated toilet seats or toilet seats with lighting, toilet seats that serve as family toilet seats with integrated child seats or even designer seats with high-quality SWAROWSKI ELEMENTS.
Do you need additional functions?
To mention licensed patents and toilet seats in one sentence sounds strange at first - but the functions have developed a lot in recent years and it is worthwhile to take a look at some of the new functions. The innovative and very popular examples include seats with a quick-release fastener (TakeOff removal function) for easy removal for easier cleaning - or toilet lids that close gently (soft close) to prevent the toilet seat from slamming loudly. Also technical developments - such as the aforementioned heated toilet seat - or toilet seats with enema function or hygienic shower function as well as toilet seats from the medical supply store area for barrier-free toilet visits (Care series) are now available.
